I hate that so many people have been conditioned to believe that great success is for other people. If I can be honest, I believed that about myself at one time. I didn’t think that being a published author, a contributor to Forbes.com or even serving as an Executive Coach for Black Enterprise was something that I would achieve. I saw others doing it, but did not believe it would happen in my life. It wasn’t until I was willing to do some things differently that I began to get different results.

I remember hearing a presenter at a conference discuss his mindset about business deals. When he started out, he was willing to take whatever came his way but as he became more successful, he became more selective. He only set his sites on big projects. He didn’t land all of the projects that we bid on but his business grew exponentially because he was willing to take bigger risks to get bigger rewards.

No mater where you are today, you can go higher. Be strategic about becoming successful.
